TheSEP Engagement teamis an exciting team in NESO’s Strategic Energy Planning directorate, playing a critical role in determining our approach to stakeholder and industry engagement and the look and feel of our publications. 

 

The postholder will be expected to manage a variety of tasks, often simultaneously, and must be able to prioritise effectively in a dynamic environment. This includes adapting to shifting priorities, coordinating with multiple stakeholders, and ensuring timely delivery of outputs across different areas of engagement. 

 

You will support theStakeholder Managersand team in helping NESO make strategic decisions about energy vectors by supporting external engagement and publications as well as internal coordination with teams across the whole of NESO. This is a vital role working to ensure NESO delivers on its ambitions. 

 

This role can be based our Warwick, Wokingham or Glasgow office. We continue to offer hybrid working from office and home. We are open to full time and part time applicants, as well as flexible working arrangements.

Key Accountabilites

This role will be within our Electricity Networks Stakeholder Engagement team leading on the Offshore engagement plans for the Centralised Strategic Network Plan (CNSP). 

 

Develop and Deliver Stakeholder Strategy 

  • Lead the creation and execution of a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy for the offshore component of the CSNP. 
  • Ensure engagement with statutory and non-statutory organisations is effective, efficient, and meets business and regulatory requirements.  

 

Engagement Planning and Relationship Management 

  • Work closely with internal workstream leads, government bodies, and industry stakeholders to design and implement engagement plans. 

 

Consultation and External Communications 

  • Lead approaches for consultation, ensuring clarity and transparency in communications. 
  • Plan and coordinate external events, webinars, and in-person sessions to share project updates and gather feedback.  

Stakeholder Mapping and Analysis 

  • Oversee stakeholder mapping, identifying key influencers and decision-makers. 
  • Act as subject matter expert for offshore stakeholder engagement, sharing best practice and lessons learned.  

 

Internal Collaboration and Knowledge Sharing 

  • Ensure alignment across related programmes (e.g., SEP, RESP) and contribute to working groups. 
  • Support creation of materials for internal and external engagement, fostering knowledge sharing across teams. 

 

Compliance and Governance 

  • Maintain adherence to statutory obligations and organisational governance throughout engagement activities. 
  • Provide transparent reporting on stakeholder feedback and how it informs decision-making. 

About you

  • Able to lead tasks to completion and liaise across multiple teams and levels of management.  
  • Able to lead complex tasks and work under pressure.  
  • Expert knowledge of stakeholder engagement for electricity including understanding these stakeholders and how they could be impacted by our proposed plans.   
  • Excellent communication skills – written and verbal – able to communicate/summarise information for different audiences. 
  • Strong networking and relationship building skills, especially for within NESO. 
  • Strong planning and self-management skills. 
  • Competent with Word, PowerPoint and CRM. 
  • Experience of project management would be an advantage but not essential. 
  • Able to be flexible and pragmatic, curious and creative, and deliver through collaboration.

About what you'll get

A competitive salary between £55,000 - £65,000 per annum – dependent on experience and capability. As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on company performance, 26 days annual leave as standard and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
